G’day Mates
I’m pleased to announce Winter is now over! Geeze! I was beginning to feel like a Canuk! Six Months of eating whale blubber, wearing seal skins, hitching up the huskies and yelling ‘MUSH!’ every time I wanted to go the grocery store is about all I can take. I’m ready to peal off these mukluks, put on gym shorts, slip on some shades and catch a few rays!
Here we GO NOW! It’s time for a Beach Party! The Utah Sailing Association invites you to the IceBreaker! Bring your boat, a lounge chair, a picnic basket, a few cool ones and come PRACTICE some Power Lounging with your mates!
We’ll be partying all day on the beach and soaking up the Sunshine, Saturday April 19th at the Utah Lake State Park Marina. (about 11 ish) April too soon you say? Look, we don’t want to do anything foolish here; yeah, the water is cold, so you wouldn’t want dive in and practice the backstroke. So dress appropriately and we’ll keep an eye out for one another and we’ll have a good time.
Not only is the Icebreaker a good time to enjoy the beach and get out for an early sail, but more importantly it’s a chance to evaluate the condition of your boat and sailing gear. It’s a good time to find out now if there’s a problem, rather than when you get to Bear Lake and discover a halyard has gone rotten, or your missing a drain plug, maybe a side stay is fraying, or your trampoline needs tightening. (you get the idea! get that baby tuned up!)
The Membership party March 15th at the Benlomond Golf Course was a Gasss! It was good to see our sailing friends again. The food was excellent and the entertainment was great! Wowwe! the turkey dinner was an absolute FEAST! we had massive FOOD galore. I ate and ate until I popped. (Thank you, thank you to our Chefs!) Thank you all for contributing to the party with your Most Excellent deserts, salads, chips & salsa, the vegetable trays and bean greens!
A huge thank you to all who renewed their Memberships!
Welcome aboard New Members: Bill Boulden and family, Jim Jensen and family, Shaun Kruger.
The Utah Sailing Association works because of your support!
Utah Summer Games June 21st & 22nd
We’re a little over two months away from the first shape. With the Summer Games now a two day event, we’re planning a camp over Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st. If you would like to join us for camping, you’ll want to call for a camp reservation at the Great Horned Owl Campground or the Chokecherry Campground before they sell out (both are adjacent to each other, Chokecherry has 6 of the better tent sites) at 800-322-3770 or SLC# 322-3770 Monday - Friday 8-5.
see you on the beach!
