From the Masthead
Â
G’day Mates
Â
We’re at T-minus 24 hours and counting for the deployment of the MOAB!
Â
This bash will truly be………………. the Mother of All! Â Â Duck and Cover!
Â
Some of us are bringing our bikes for a morning ride, bring your ’sickle’ if you would like to join us.
also bring fire wood for the beachside bonfire if you can. Â Bring a floatie or your boat (we are after all a sailing club)Â please take care with side items you bring that could spoil for the dinner party.
Â
Thank you to all who have RSVPed for the Dinner Party saturday night.  I know our chefs appreciate the courtesy.  If you haven’t yet sent your RSVP and want to join us for the party you need to be on ‘THE LIST’ to attend. deadline is midnight june 30th, 801-815-2521, .
NOTE: the Gumball Rally ‘road rally’ in true form is considered illegal by officials, As is our rally.
We use words like “regatta,” race, ”heat” to describe our event, however we must be careful in our
terminology or description of our sailing events, particularly around certain officers of the State so we
don’t get misconstrued as racing, and have to deal with all the red tape, the permits, the event plans, course diagrams, State Park approval, hiring of EMT’s, Million dollar insurance policies (whew! you get the idea). Â So please refer to our ‘RACES!’ as a ’sail’ ‘a cruse’ ‘navigational instruction’ (spoken in a soft harmonic tone)Â when describing these events.
Gumball Rally handicaps will be as the Labeau.
- If you sail with your spouse, putting your marriage on the line you get a break.
- If you have a monster crew you get some relief.
- If your crew is over 70 years of age you get help.
- If  you bring the whole famdamily you get massive compensation.
- If you single hand a double handed boat with full sail you get dinged.
- If you steal another’s crew, because the captain can’t make up their mind to participate, you get applause.
- If your a spectator and forget your lounge chair, you sit in the dirt.
So come sail with us from Thursday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Â We will as always be at the Willow group campsite at Rendezvous Beach at the south end of Bear Lake.
As with the reputation of all Utah Sailing Associaiton events; ‘if it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing!Â
see you on the beach!
Â
Sincerely,
Brett Bingham
