Run! Run for your lives! It’s the LaBeau LeMans Grand Prix 20! sil’ vous play!
Ladies and Gentlemen! the Event we ALL have anxiously awaited! the Event of a lifetime! the Event of all Events! the Event by which all other Events are judged! (ok that’s quite enough of the event talk) And now without further adieu! the LaBeau will commence Saturday August 30th at High Noon 12:00pm. Registration and skippers meeting at 10:30am at the Willow #3 Pavilion.
The LaBeau is a two leg timed distance regatta, beginning with a LeMans start at Rendezvous beach, sailing to 75th North in Garden City, where your time will be recorded. Proceed to LaBeau’s restaurant for lunch. (foul will be called on any wimp merely ordering a glass of water!) After lunch we return to the YACHTS for the second leg and sail back betwixed the buoys placed on Rendezvous Beach where your second time will be recorded.
Base Portsmouth Handicaps will be adjusted as per last years LaBeau and Gumball Rally adjustments. See Gumball Rally handicap adjustments on our 4th of July post. The adjustments to the base handicap are a zany attempt to encourage family participation.
After the REGATTA Join us for our ‘WAY GROOVY’ Italian dinner party at the Villa! RSVP REQUIRED by Sunday August 24th if you want to attend and get on ‘the Dinner Party LIST’ RSVP with number of souls in your party attending and side item you would like to share with your mates. After dinner join your fellow ‘Olympians’ in the Horseshoe Tournament and beachside bonfire!
NOTE: We have a few extra spaces available in Willow for the USA Labor Day Weekend. Members, please let your guests know the Associate Membership Fees to join us for the weekend are $20 Single, $40 Family. includes entry to the LaBeau, the Dinner Party, Horseshoe Tournament and partying with the USA! (WOW what a sweet DEAL!) to get in on this action! see Beverly Riedel our Treasurer upon arrival.
Little America’s Cup/ Fremont Lake Regatta
Congratulations to Jed Duke receiving the ‘Dr. Bert Reinow Friend of Sailing’ award. Jed received this special award for his generous support of the Regatta and Sailing in our area. Jed is always there helping, helping set up and launch boats, preparing and cooking food, arranging massive quantities of beverages, setting marks, you name it Jed is there getting it done. Thanks Jed for all you do to support Sailing! Congratulations to Jason Essington receiving the ‘Sailor of the Year’ award. Jason is the main man organizing the Regatta, getting the permits, the welcoming party, the dinner party, arranging boat slips, race committee (thanks Cheryl) rescue boats, trophies, and ‘the thong’ The Regatta happens because of the selfless efforts of Jason, Cheryl, Jed, Parv. Nice Job you guys!
