Love-love is a perpetually sinking boat created by French artist Julien Berthier. The boat sits at a 45 degree angle to the water’s surface as though it were sinking, thanks to its customized keel which balances the boat in place.

For those of you who missed the Summer Games Regatta it was interrupted after only a single race. The short version of the story is that a micro-burst touched down and leveled every boat on the lake. As far as I could see every boat went turtle almost instantly. Thanks to the quick actions of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the State Park Rangers and the local Sheriffs everyone was plucked from the lake safely (for the most part). I think only two of us made the trip to the hospital.

Many boats were damaged and broken. Hopefully we can get a few patched up well enough for the 4th of July Event which is only a short 3 weeks away.

Sunday there was also only 1 race held before the State Park Rangers kicked everyone off the lake at the first rain drop for fear of a repeat of what happened Saturday.  The remaining boats included a number of Lasers, a Thistle, 2 Swift Solos, and two catamarans (Shaun’s F-18 and a Nacra 5.7 that showed up to play).

If you have any war stories to share post them in the forum using the link below.  Also, those of you that took photos please upload them on the photos page.  If you have any trouble uploading them please contact or

Sailing footage is posted daily at the NBC Olympics sailing page.

There are six racing days for each of the 11 events, the first five days are the opening series and the final day is the medal race, where only the top ten boats from the previous days compete.

We’ve received word that there is a new weekly racing series for the Laser Dinghy Class taking place at Jordanelle Reservoir. They hold 4-6 races every Tuesday night beginning around 6:15-6:30pm. This is a great way to improve your sailing and racing skills. The group is expecting nearly 10 boats on the line at the next event, and are hoping to find more interested sailors.

Secure boat storage is available on-site at the Personal Watercraft Ramp and a new rack is near completion to allow the storage of up to a dozen lasers. Sailors of all ages and abilities are welcome. They have setup a Yahoo Group for the event at Park City Laser Racing.

If your interested in the group, or if you know of any Laser boats that are unused and possibly for sale, then please contact Geoff via the following email address.

Brett has put together a great article entitled Neophyte Racer. Be sure to check it out as it is a good introduction for both mono-hull and catamaran racers. The article goes over basic course layouts and contains links to more detailed racing manuals. This is worthy reading for beginner and advanced sailors alike.

Also, we have added an Events Page that now appears in the main navigation bar above. This page has detailed information for every event & race taking place in the 2008 season.

Shaun M, Shaun K and Randy all christened their new boats this weekend and had their maiden voyage on the waters of Utah Lake. A Zuma monohull along with two NACRA F18 Infusions are the newest members to the club. Click here for some photos.
